Ed Dougherty:
  • I had read this article for the first time several months ago when Professor Mercede e-mailed it out to the class. I really liked that fact that professor Dougherty took something he enjoys and turned it into a career. Its also not the first thing I would have thought of in terms of an engineering career, which opened my eyes to the possibilities of how i could apply engineering to my own interests.
Jamie Hyneman:
  • Founder of M5 Industrues, the special effects workshop where the show he co-hosts, MythBusters, is filmed.
  • He tends to lean toward the simpler ideas and says that "simpler is better".
  • The conference call he held with us last semester was very informative. One thing in particular that I took away from it was that he had his partner do not get along well at all! but they still manage to work effectively as a team. I thought that this was an important lesson to take from his discussion.
